He is God’s Servant

“He is God’s servant” Romans 13:4
Those who kill cops will face God’s judgement; it’s a promise from God’s word.
It says in Romans 13:1-7… “Everyone must submit…” that means everyone, man, woman, and child, black red, white or otherwise. “…to the governing authorities, for there is no authority…” none, zero, zilch… “ except that which God has established. The authorities… “ whether it be city, county, state, or federal…”have been established by God.”
“Consequently, he who rebels against the authority…” man, woman, or child; black, white, red or otherwise… “is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so…” man, woman, child; black, white, red or otherwise… “will bring judgement on themselves.”
Verse 4 says… “For he is God’s servant to do you good.”
Police officers, and I mean ALL police officers, male and female, even those who are not faithful believers in the Gospel of Jesus Christ, are among the authorities mentioned in this passage of Scripture. He is God’s servant. Martin Luther in his commentary on Romans says it this way… “even though he himself who holds the power may be ignorant of the fact.” He is God’s servant.
Some might argue that this doesn’t refer to the cop on the street but to the courts; nay, nay I say. Because it also says in verse 4… “But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword for nothing.” And again it says… “…he is God’s servant, an angel of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer.”
A sword is a weapon and it’s the cop on the street who carries the gun. It is the cop on the street, who is in danger of being killed as we have all seen in these news stories that are invading the airways on a daily basis. It is the cop on the street who is in danger and therefore he must carry a weapon (a sword). And here we find the Biblical principle of using force to keep order.
Every decent law-abiding citizen in this country should be up in arms right now to defend our defenders. I spent a lot of years on the job and my younger brother is on the job today and I swear; if I was younger, I would go back out there right now. I am absolutely sickened by what is going on in our country today and you should be too. And if you aren’t, then I would have to say that you are part of the problem.
If nothing else, pray for them. We need to lift them up in prayer every single day.
O god, our God, for the sake of Your name, Lord, we ask that you protect your servants as they do their job of protecting the people. In the name of the Lord, Jesus Christ, I ask You Lord, according to Your word. And bring Your righteous judgement against those who do them harm. Amen
